Abana Fundraiser, Saturday June 16th 2007, Moby's Whale Beach
This evening was a fabulous success. We raised over $60000.00 - enough to commence the new wing of the school, provide a scholarship, fund skills programmes and teacher resources. The pictures below were taken on a recent visit to the school by Helen & Joe during June 2008 and show the people, the fantastic results thus far and a little of the area and also the pressing need for more action on the ground.
Abana concentrates on Education in Rwanda but small injections of captial can have dramatic results in this country. Recently on a visit a bakery was established using a small personal contribution from members of our group - it is amazing what can can be achieved.

Moby's Whale Beach has been supporting this school project in Rwanda since 2004. Launched from a personal friendship going back eleven years between Helen Gracie (Moby's proprietor) and Christine Murorunkwere (Rwandan Expatriate - now Australian citizen and Beacon Hill resident).
